Dubai Metro's new golden line
Dubai is gearing up for the next major step in public transport -- the construction of a new golden metro line.

Dubai launches one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in recent years — building a new golden lines of the Dubai Metro. This key transportation project aims to connect historic districts with fast-growing areas while significantly lightening busy routes, primarily the Red Line. The Gold Line is seen as a strategic part of a long-term expansion and modernization plan public transport in Dubai.
Route and key connections of the new metro line
It's new Dubai Metro Gold Line will begin in the Al Ghubaiba district of the Bur Dubai area, from where it will run parallel to the red route through the Business Bay district and the Meydan development site. They will then head to the Global Village entertainment complex and on to the extensive Dubailand residential area. The total length of the route will be approximately 30 kilometers and will include 14 modern stations.
The aim is to improve connectivity between the traditional parts of Dubai and the new urban areas, with significant increases in transport capacity and comfort for the daily commuting of residents and visitors to the city.
Transport capacity, investment and construction schedule
According to the plans Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) the gold line will be designed to carry up to 300,000 passengers a day. Intervals between individual trains will be just 3 minutes during rush hour. An annual increase in subway passenger numbers of 5 to 7 percent is expected.
The total investment in the project is estimated to be approximately 5.5 billion US dollars. A tender for the main project consultant is currently underway, which is due to close in May 2025. After its completion, construction is expected to begin.
Impact on real estate development and urban infrastructure
The construction of the new line brings enormous potential for real estate market in dubai. Areas such as Business Bay and Dubailand, which will be directly connected to the gold line, can expect property value growth, increased investor interest and new urban development projects. Access to modern public transportation has traditionally increased the attractiveness of neighborhoods for residents and businesses, supporting long-term Dubai's economic growth.
The future of urban transport in Dubai
The Golden Line is part of a broader strategic plan to develop Dubai's transport network, including the planned blue metro line, to be completed by 2029. By connecting different parts of the city with modern and environmentally friendly transport, Dubai aims to achieve the goal of becoming a global leader in the field of Smart Mobility and Sustainable Urban Planning.
The introduction of the golden metro line will represent not only a technological, but also a symbolic milestone in the development of the city. Dubai thus strengthens its position as an innovative, connected and investment-attractive centre of the region.
